Canadian records falling at world championships

(Toronto, ON – September 17, 2004)

Canada’s women took 7 seconds off the Canadian record in the 4 x 25 m Manikin Relay to place first in the B-Final last night with a time of 1:41.66 at the National Teams World Lifesaving Championship. Setting the new Canadian record were Jennifer Allison (Ontario), Véronique Comtois (Quebec), Stephanie Hatt (Ontario) and Hayley John (British Columbia).

100 m Carry With Fins

Jeff Arthurs placed 18th in the prelims, breaking his Canadian record with a time of 57.42.

100 m Rescue Medley

John Eddols placed 14th in the prelims, breaking his Canadian record with a time of 1:11.97.

4 x 25 m Manikin Relay

Jeff Arthurs, John Eddolls, Dustin Hersee and Johnathan Howard places fifth in the A-Final with a time of 1:21.97 eclipsing the previous Canadian National Team record of 1:26.90 (but just shy of the Canadian record of 1:21:78 held by the Canadian Forces Lifesaving Team).

4 x 50 m Medley Relay

Jeff Arthurs, John Eddolls, Dustin Hersee and Johnathan Howard placed 10th in the prelims, in a new Canadian record time of 1:38.90.

4 x 50 m Obstacle Relay

Jeff Arthurs, John Eddolls, Dustin Hersee and Johnathan Howard placed 13th in the finals, in a new Canadian record time of 1:48.18.

100 m Tow With Fins

Jonathan Howard placed first in the B-Final with a time of 59.69. Stephanie Hatt placed second in the B-Final with a time of 1:07.94.

Masters party tonight following the conclusion of their division’s events. National Teams enjoy a weekend of open water competition, and Interclub teams prepare for competition starting Monday.
